The rules studied, decks made and shuffled, both Harley and Batman
take to their opposing ends along the table while the news still
played out some feet away. Harley smirks as she places her deck down
tapping her fingers against the top of it lovingly before throwing up
a fist to Batman who narrows his bright whites.
“What? We gotta roshambo for the right to d'cide who goes first.”
Harley explains as Batman brings out his own fist to play along with
the game. “Ro! Sham! HAMMER!”
Harley threw down a closed fist in smug arrogance before noting
Batma's open palm. Gasping, Harley shot both her own open palms
against the table nearly pushing herself up in the process.
“How'd ya know?”
“Lucky guess. But I'll allow you to go first.”
Batman's nicety would only be seen as such by Harley, but any
seasoned player would know there were still enough advantages in
going second. For starters, you could be the first to issue an
attack. But at the same time, if the first player were dealt a good
hand, it might allow the second a glimpse into their strategy.
Knowing Harley as well as he did, he was certain he'd get his fair
share of information off of Harley's first move.
After drawing the five, and Harley takes her sixth, she immediately
slaps down Sangan in attack mode humming joyfully to herself
as she looks across the field at her opponent. The Dark Knight just
looks across at Harley almost as if expecting something to accompany
the weakened fiend. However, there was nothing. Harley was willing to
sacrifice a monster, for a greater goal, but at the risk of losing
hit points. Just how many now depended on Batman.
He draws his next card looking the hand over.
“One card face down, and I'll leave this one down as well.” The
Dark Knight states looking across at Harley who wears a mischievous
smirk on her face.
“Ya ever think the fate o'Gotham rest on a single card game?” She
jokes as Batman only tenses up his jaw muscles. “Alright, alright.
It's the cards that're fightin', not us. You endin' your turn or
what?”
“Go.”
Still all smiles, Harley draws up her next card looking it over. She
holds it out far in front of her squinting with one eye closed as she
turns it this way and that. When she hears the tightening of her
opponents glove she quickly slaps it down.
“I summon this one. Whatever.”
Man Eater Bug
now sat face up in attack mode on the field. That was another weak
monster Harley was playing and another one she improperly set down.
Now it was useless with no means of its effect being applied. But the
Dark Knight knew Harley to know she had something of an ace up her
sleeve, if not some miniature form of a handgun. She was playing
stupid, but in what way?
“Ya gonna go or what?” Harley almost demands as Batman draws his
next card.
It's another trap card, which he lays out face down on the field then
looks across at Harley without another word. Harley only laughs as
she draws her next card.
“Ya know, this is kinda fun. It's like old times. I'm comin' at ya
with the wacky and the goofy and you're all hidin' in the shadows.
Hey, this one's kinda cute.”
Harley
says placing down Battle Ox.
Finally, a card she could do something with...but she plays it in
face up defense mode. Again, there just seemed to be no strategy here
but the smirk she sends Batman told him otherwise.
On
his next draw, Batman finds himself with the CelticGuardian. Normally, not really a
match for the Battle Ox, but with it in defense mode he could
eliminate the potential game changing threat early on. It was a
chance he was going to have to take and so brought him to the field.
“If force is the only way to see your strategy, then force I'll
bring.” He states issuing an attack from his Guardian to Harley's
Battle Ox sending it to the card graveyard.
“Welp, ya win some ya lose some. My dra-”
“Wait.” Batman says bringing up a hand as Harley just blinks a
couple times. “I still have my second phase and if you won't let me
in on your strategy then I'll force you to change it.”
In
this, he flips up Lightning Vortex
and discards a card causing Harley to have to remove both of her own.
Something she doesn't look too pleased about as she puffs out her
cheeks and just glares chainsaws across the table to her opponent
before finally venting out.
“Force,
force, force! Ya know, you're
the reason why they had'ta add in that hospital wing to Arkham!”
“It's your move, Harley.”
Harley
huffs again drawing a card but doesn't seem too interested in that as
she looks and sighs over her Megamorph
and Maiden with Eyes of Blue.
“That'd
been a really awesome combo...” Then she looks at the card she's
drawn and smiles. “But this one's gonna do! VoooooooooooorseRaider!!!”
Harley slaps the card down hard on her side of the field before
declaring an open attack. As that goes on, Batman just flips up his
second face down card, Mirror Force, thus destroying Harley's
monster leaving her field completely defenseless.
“No! What? Hey!” Harley exclaims.
“I'm not here to waste time, Quinn, I'm here to find out where
Poison Ivy is.”
“Well...maybe I don't know where she is.” Harley replies
attempting to keep calm brushing one of her cards against her chin.
“Vicki Vale here outside Gotham First National where a series of
vines have seemingly popped up from the ground holding the
entire structure hostage.”
Harley, hearing this, looks over to see that her television was still
on. Seeing the image, she shrugs and turns back.
“So blah, blah, blah. Your move, hit me and I'll get ya back on the
next...” She was alone. “Turn.”
Silence was her answer as she sighs dropping her cards down on the
table and stands up to head into a back room.
“Jeez, Red, what the heck are ya doin'? Gave you my number, but ya
don't invite me to your dance?” Harley comes back in decked out in
her red and black bodysuit pulling down the jester hood. “That's
okay, cause here comes your plus one!”
She says rushing out the front door only to hurry back in and grab up
her deck. Then she's out the door for good.
